Spoonbill Storms The Armory

Spoonbillarmory

Come on up to Park Avenue where we’ll be offering a selection of new and and second-hand books under the auspices of the venerable Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) at The Art Show, Seventh Regiment Armory, March 5-9, 2014.

We’ll be mingling art books from our own stock with those contributed by the ADAA member galleries. Seventy-two galleries are exhibiting, out of a total of one hundred and eighty members, and roughly one hundred are contributing three titles each to our shop. (Have you memorized all those numbers?)

We love the room we’ve been given: alternately called The Trophy Room, The Library or The Silver Room, it’s the work of the Louis Comfort Tiffany Studio with Stanford White as consultant. The room is less ornate than many of the adjacent ones and hasn’t received the Herzog & de Meuron treatment like some others in the building, but it’s still quite special and we feel that the low light, the silver trophies and the array of good books will make crossing the room’s threshold a rewarding experience.

The above photo shows a view of the room from up in the mezzanine (which we won’t be inhabiting) with a few Roseate Spoonbills thrown in for added excitement. Photoshop courtesy of Lucinda Warchol.

This is the 26th edition of The Art Show but the first year they’ve had a bookshop. We’re grateful to have been asked to participate.

Admission to the Show is $25/day which benefits the Henry Street Settlement. For more information about The Art Show go to http://www.artdealers.org/artshow.html

 See you there!
